January through December, then in the next column enter the rainfall (in
inches), and in the third column enter the temperature (in Fahrenheit).
- Select
the data that you entered and click on the Chart Wizard in the tool bar.

step one of the wizard, select the “custom types”
tab, then scroll down under the chart type and select “line-column on 2
axes”. Click next.
- On
step two, click next.
- On
step three, under the “titles” tab, enter the title for your chart. Then under the valued (y) axis, enter
Precipitation (inches) and under the second value (y) axis, enter
Temperature (F). Leave both titles
for the X-axis blank.
- On
the same step, but under the “legend” tab, click on show legend so that
there is no check mark.
- Now
click finish to see your chart.
- Now
we want to set our Y-axis so that everyone’s are the same. First right click on the numbers for
your precipitation and select format axis.
Click on the “scale” tab.
For the minimum value enter 0 and for the maximum enter 30. For the major unit enter 2 and be sure
that your X axis crosses at 0.
- Now
right click on the numbers for your temperature and select format
axis. Click on the “scale” tab. For the minimum value enter -50 and for
the maximum value enter 100. For
the major unit enter 10 and change the X axis so that it now crosses at
-50.
- When
the chart appears the way it should; save it and print
a hard copy to hand in.
