Computer Hardware and Networking Essentials
CET 751
Course Description: A study of computer hardware and networks used in the educational setting. Topics include hardware maintenance and upgrade, network wiring, topologies, planning, installation, and maintenance of computer networks.
Instructor: Mr. Tom Farrell
Semester Completed: Summer 2003
Goals/Objectives accomplished:
During the Computer Hardware and Networking Essentials course, I developed the skills needed to maintain computer systems and networks through the hands on portion of the class. This was also a great way to build my confidence in working physically with computers. I was introduced to current trends and issues in computer hardware and software through the discussions of different computer related topics during the classroom portion of the class. One discussion we had that sparked my interest had to do with the role and responsibilities of a technology coordinator. The fact that our school district considered cutting this position also made me curious as to what members of the district would be missing if the position was terminated.
